Generic nothing special to justify price tag come on surely
Grateful to be from Chicago where I've heard all these folks spin at lofts, clubs, bars, basements, festivals, block parties, etc... Can't beat that local flavor in the home environment. Glad they are getting some love abroad and beyond.
Arabella V.
not a disco editz expert but i love dancing to the shit and this is pretty much the best compilation ever made period-----------------------4 those bitching about prices : THIS WAS PRESSED AT LEAST 3 TIMES ALREADY GET OVER IT
Disco Fantasy is an edit of Alonzo Turner ‎– Whoever Said It (1978)
'Give Me Your Love' samples Sisters Love - Give me your love
wrong, it's Curtis Mayfield's version of give me your love.
nope, it samples Isaac Hayes - Give Me Your Love
Played w/ Todd Terry recently, He dropped "Hit It n' Quit it" as his 1st or 2nd track.
Rahaan's "Make Me Hot" is an edit of Busta Jones's 1979 Disco Classic "(You) Keep On Making Me Hot" on Spring Records
Yes not a bad release. Other one better IMO, but Gene Hunt - Tazz is very good.
D1 - "Hit It N Quit It" is a sample from Paperclip People (Carl Craig) - "Throw"
dr.djole D1 - "Hit It N Quit It" is a sample from Paperclip People (Carl Craig) - "Throw" Yes and Paperclip People sampled Lolleatta Holloway- Hit n Run from Salsoul in the late 1970's
throw and hit it N quit it samples Loleata Holloway Hit and Run
"Throw" just sampled the same song which is "Hit And Run"
"Tazz" uses the vocal samples from Quincy Jones' " Razzamatazz" as Gene Hunt has done before.
I've got the first pressing and now a copy of the jan 2015 pressing. Both great quality, just worth noting that the cover on the first pressing is .5cm taller. Just thought I would add this so people maybe able to spot the differences between first and second.
Mines 5 inches taller! is literally a MASSIVE record!
Point 5 of a cm = 5mm
I remember just a few short months ago when the cheapest copy of this was 55$ US and I still considered buying it - now I got the repress for much less and I'm so glad I did. Every cut bangs, even the ones I didn't immediately like from youtube clips. Playing this loud through monitors changes it entirely, even more than usual with other dance music. Everything is so pocket on this record and its mastered and pressed beautifully.
Sign of the times here. You can also see it in labels like Macadam Mambo. You either get disco edits recyling old records or when original material is presented it's a drum machine jam. I have nothing against the Hugo H track - it does the business quite well. But it is sad that no one can make this disco stuff if they tried and so we are stuck mining the past for material.
check out what golden ivy & prins thomas are up to.
My god!! Has to be the disco release of the year. Side D - Hit it N Quit it, I'm gettin multiple copies of this. Great quality pressing not to be missed.
Skunk Black
Totally solid. Don't miss out on this most crucial collection of rootsy yet modern Chicago disco/house business. This is an important release.
Absolutely stunning compilation of disco edits. Not a single dud. I'm playing all these tracks out. Beautiful mastering and pressing. Proper jacket with artwork.PERFECTION.
genius lp, disco fantasy edit is the one for me, these vocals are just so beautiful, thanks for this jam rahaan !
